Alrewas again

We just can't keep away from this place, though those who know it will quite understand our attachment to it. We made another prompt (ie eight o'clock) start and were locking up off the river section just on eleven, after a quiet and uneventful run.

Sheila has had a wobbly crown for a few days and was able to get an appointment with our dentist for half eleven. He's sorted it temporarily, so that it will keep until our next routine check up in June. You can see why we like the dentist, too.

We've shopped for meat at Coates' and had an amble down the towpath to see who's about. The only boat we recognised was Peruvian Skies; indeed the moorings are remarkably quiet.

Later on whilst we were sitting out on the towpath enjoying the sunshine, who should come past but Dick and Netty, the crew off the aforesaid boat. We've had a good old catch up with them. It's yet another example of the way the community on the cut works; you don't see folk for years but then happen to be tied nearby or just cross with them as we did with Maffi the other week and carry on where you left off.

We're going to stay here tomorrow, to give Elanor a chance to rendezvous, then push on to Kings Bromley on Thursday.
