Dozy day

We must have been pushing ourselves quite hard over the last couple of weeks, because now that we've stopped, there's a tendency just to loaf around and doze.

Today, I'll stick to one or two disconnected bits:

At Crick, we saw some neat silicone mats on Eleventh Heaven, heat proof and non-slip, ideal for standing coffee mugs on, on the roof, say. I found some on Amazon at the very cheap price of a couple of quid each, and ordered three. Because I used the one-click option, it wasn't until the confirmation email came that I found that the seller was charging £4.96 p&p for each one, so that I was paying £7 a mat.

That's about the going rate from other sellers, but of course means that if I decide not to keep them and return them, I'll only get the £2 refunded. The seller points out that Amazon sets the p&p rate, so it's a good reason to buy from eBay instead, which is much more up front about this stuff and allows the seller to set their own shipping charges.

We've had an entertaining series of comments on yesterday's post about kids telly in the fifties; I wonder what the average age of my blog readers is?

I'm going back to see the dentist tomorrow, by bus; the new crown is a bit high, so my bite is all skew whiff and uncomfortable. Tedious; I've not yet had a crown that didn't need tweaking once you'd got used to it, they should get you to make the appointment when you leave after the fitting.

Elanor and Sally are coming over this evening. I'd served Jane with lasagne whilst she was here, and ordered the sheets from Ocado. When they came, they were fresh ones, so we need Elanor's help to use the other half of the pack, which won't keep now that it's opened.

Totally agree about crowns not being perfect as you leave after having them fitted. You always seem to need some adjustment later. However I put this down to the fact that having kept your mouth open for so long while the crown is fitted and tweaked etc. your jaw hasn't settled down to the normal 'setting' so when they ask if that feels right, at the time it does seem OK, but later feels incorrect and hence subsequent adjustment is almost inevitable.

Also, at first, it feels like someone's glued a pebble in your mouth anyway.

And in this case the opposite upper side was numb because I was having a filling in there, so couldn't tell if that side was properly shut or not.

Anyway, mustn't complain, still have as many teeth now as I had when I was 21, even if they have all these decorative bits added.

Hate to think what false teeth must be like.

Cheers

Bruce

And you reckon you can remember when you were 21? ;-)))

Hi B & S,
I've just been catching up with a couple of weeks worth of your blog. The silicone mats can be found in Pound shops, but for an even better item go to Aldi who do really good magnetic coasters for around £2 for 3, perfect for the roof.
We realised years ago that the best boat award at Crick was rigged and had this confirmed one year. We were told on the Sunday night by the woman in charge of voting that we were way in the lead, only to be pipped to the post by a frantic last minute flood of votes for an unknown builder. Even she admitted it was a fix, after the event of course. We never bothered entering again after that.

Hi Yvonne

Now she tells me!

Thanks for the info anyway, we'll look out for them.

The Fav Boat comp would be much better if it was properly judged, but that would probably lead to even more complaints, I guess.

Take care
