To the woods (after the shops)

Today we may have finished the shopping for the lodge; we bought a bits-and-pieces storage box from Wilko and two more egg cups and a radiator airer from Dunelm.

Flushed with success we then went on to Rosliston Forestry Centre for a good walk with Sally. It’s a place we’ve wanted to get to for a couple of years and it didn’t disappoint. There are loads of possible walks, a variety of activities available and a very pleasant cafe.

Sally was seriously excited to be in a new rummaging location, though we didn’t feel able to let her off the lead on this first occasion. It’s a place for running her on the long lead I reckon.

After scoffing pasties in the cafe, we headed back to the boat with the goodies; since then it’s been a quiet time on board, though we’ve just had a very pleasant visit from one of Sheila’s crochet customers, Jan, who collected four porthole doilies.

Tonight, roast pork from Betty’s Farm – it’s in the oven as I type this. We’ll get a lie in tomorrow as the hour goes off tonight, so darker evenings and lighter mornings for a while.

Tomorrow, I must service the Hurricane heater whilst the (maybe) hurricane rages outside.
