A quieter day

We had an entertaining time yesterday at the Chesterfield Musketeers barbecue. High quality burgers and high quality brass were the theme of the afternoon, even if all the moorers didn't appreciate the latter.

You really can't please everybody all of the time!

Today has been quieter; Sheila's been occupied doing the Monday wash and I've been progressing the repairs to the paint on the bow. The cream and the blue have been touched in – once they've dried hard, I'll be able to do the red which adjoins them.

Sheila has offered to make up a template for the semicircular end of the red bow flash which will be a big help. We've also been working out how to make a four bight three lead Turk's Head to put round the bow fender, reinforcing the worn face. It's a bit more hassle than putting a bit of tyre on it but looks much nicer.

We've had a couple of walks round the marina already and Elanor and Sally are coming over in a bit to join us in a third.

The only fly in the ointment has been the erratic performance of the 3 connection. It does vary quite a bit round here. It looks fine according to the signal strength, but web browsing has been impossibly slow for much of the day, with pages often failing to load.

I fear it may be the onset of the school holidays leading to a lot more data traffic by youngsters at home.
