Another quiet day

We've had another laid back day here at Stone, loafing in bed well past Thought for the Day and ambling into town after doing a bit of email correspondence and the like. We called in at Stone Boat Building, but our paint hasn't come yet; looks like it might not make it before we have to go, in which case they'll hold it for us until we can get over to collect it. (Elanor…?)

Having picked up a money-off leaflet for the Co-op whilst in Stone BB, we decided to go there for all our supplies this time rather than Morrisons. We'd barely got started with the trolley when we met Liz Siviter in there. Just Siviting (Braidbar 99) is on the dock at Stone Canal Cruising at the moment, doing her blacking.

After a quick natter about the social arrangements for the Braidbar Owners' Group at Crick Show, we went our separate ways. We managed a good shop, then ambled back to the boat.

After lunch, I started the engine, and Sheila ran a washload once things were well warmed up. Talking of battery charging, one curious point from last night – when we went to bed, the Smart Gauge was showing 12.85 volts, not bad for a battery bank at 93% charge and still under a bit of load. I had a quick peep out of the bedroom Houdini, and sure enough, a big sodium D light was shining right on the solar panel. So now we're running the boat off the street lights…

Tomorrow, we'll have to start boating again. We'll call in at Stone BB to see if the paint's come and to buy some solid fuel, then pause at the water point below Star Lock to top up. After that, we'll probably end up somewhere like Weston or one of the country moorings nearby for the night.
