Busy Monday

After yesterday's quite quiet day, we've been a bit busier today. First off, Sheila popped into the village to see if the hairdresser was open (it wasn't) and to get a paper. Then there was the Ocado delvery, which turned up just as we'd made a cup of coffee at half ten (works every time). It was a serious restocking, so it took until half eleven to check off the delivery and get it all stowed away.

After a break to recover and eat lunch, Sheila pointed out that the weather looked like it might stay dry for long enough to wash the cabin side. This proved to be the case – in fact, we not only had time to wash, rinse and dry the side, we got a coat of Carnauba wax onto it as well. I must say that the Carnauba is much, much easier than either Autoglym or Mer to use. I slathered it on with a will and a disposable cloth, and Sheila followed on behind polishing off (you don't have to wait for it to dry or anything). In all, it took two hours and half a dozen disposable cloths for the whole job.

If we get the same weather tomorrow, and we can still stagger about in the morning, we might push Sanity Again across to the vacant pontoon alongside and do the other side. Mind you, we're dog sitting tomorrow, so Sally might get a bit confused by it all.

Naturally, we're feeling a bit part worn, but very pleased with ourselves. As well as being easier to use, the Carnauba has done a very good job of brightening up the paint finish and removing the runs you get below the portholes.

Tom Jones asked in a comment on yesterday's offering about the battery top up system. I don't have any good photos of our arrangement (most of it is hidden under the electric cupboard, that's the whole point), but the Pb Batteries site has some shots of the Felonious Mongoose installation, and their mother company, Powercell, has info about the actual top up system.

Thank you for the link Bruce. However at more than £200 for a 12 cell bank I would have to think long and hard about the expenditure! :-(
