Suddenly it's quiet

It's been a good weekend, but tiring. We had a good run from Fradley to the top of Bagnall yesterday, getting in on a stretch that's just 70' long before the road bridge. I went into the village to get stuff for lunch, and by the time I got back, Graeme and co had arrived. Graeme had spotted the boat as they drove over the bridge, so parked in the Jaipur Cottage car park and called Sheila to get directions.

After lunch, we took the boys to the play park and I went to Coates to stock up on meat. Elanor and Sally called in for a bit in the afternoon, and we had three kinds of sausages with bubble and squeak for tea, which was extremely successful. Alex, who doesn't go for veg much, devoured his bubble and squeak, possibly not identifying the key component.

They settled at bedtime quite a bit better than previously, though it was still a bit rowdy for a while, and the three grown ups were able to have a good family natter.

Everyone slept well, and we had porridge for breakfast, another big favourite with the lads. Then we went over to the National Memorial Arboretum for a bit over an hour, giving the lads a chance to charge about amongst the trees.

Back at the boat, Chris Hills, who writes the Tilly May blog and follows this one, passed by and introduced himself. He was enjoying his first visit to Alrewas, and had already found Coates. It's always nice to catch up with fellow bloggers; good cruising, Chris

Graeme took the boys away after lunch, and we subsided gently, after putting the boat back into two person mode.

Roast beef for dinner tonight; I shall shove it in the oven with the cunning meat thermometer stuck in it, and just do some new potatoes and sweetcorn to go with it; nothing too fancy, I'm a bit knackered.
