Sally's still out there showing off, so you'll have to put up with me again today. Yesterday, we had an interesting visit to the South Derbyshire Festival of Leisure at Church Gresley, which is actually a two day show with the usual sideshows, food stalls, craft marquee and so on. Capable Canines were one of the events in the arena, doing two demo displays of agility.
Sally acquitted herself very well, going round pretty well flawlessly off the lead. It's a real mark of how far she's come on. At the same event last year, if my memory serves, she was more interested in working the crowd for bits of burger than actually running the course, but yesterday she shot round.
Elanor's main problem these days is keeping up…
We got back a bit after five, and quietly collapsed. Elanor was going back to join in a game of rounders and a barbecue at the home of Jackie who runs Capable Canines.
Today, we made a very leisurely start, and have been pottering about since. Main things achieved were topping up the batteries and printing and laminating some Braidbar Owners Group cards for members to put in their boat windows.
This afternoon we walked round the marina, since the weather had improved, stopping off at Midland Chandlers to buy more de-ionised water. I'd had enough for the job, but didn't have much left, so it made sense to get some more where it's an easy carry back to the boat.
If the forecast is right for tomorrow, I may be able to make a start on a load of bits of paintwork touching in; it's good to have two dry days at it, so as to do the de-rusting and priming one day, and get at least one top coat on the next.
We're dog sitting on Tuesday, as usual when we're in the marina, so I might manage to get Sally to do a blog then, if she's recovered from her exertions over the weekend.
Sally is such a star - sounds as if Elanor's done wonders with her!
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to her blog when she's recovered!

Thanks Sue.
ReplyDeleteYes, she's come on loads, and had another good day yesterday. When Elanor first had her, you couldn't take her near an event like that, she'd just have exploded with fear barking, which was pretty scary all round.
Now Elanor can get her to bark on command, such as at the creepy rag and bone man who comes lurking round the local estates here.
All the best
