In the last eight years, this is only the second festival we've been to where we didn't have a role to play in staging it – and even at the Huddlesford Boat Gathering the other year we found ourselves helping to put up a marquee.
It made quite a pleasant change just to wait until all the hard work had been done and then stroll round sampling the stalls. For a small venue, there's a lot here, including some of the usual suspects like LeeSan, Wilson's Canopies and Miracle Leisure (think Brassmate polish).
There's steady stream of music from an artic trailer sound stage, some of it OK, and some… well, less to our taste let's say. There's a real ale bar and a Fosters fizz wagon, a hog roast and an organic burger bar, as well as all the regulars from the fortnightly mini farmer's market. And for the kids there's a good choice of blow up fun, water zorbing and some more traditional fun fair type rides.
It all kicked off at midday, so we had time to walk into the village first for some supplies and the paper, then a sandwich lunch before strolling out and about. We'll go out again in a bit and forage for some dinner.
The weather's been reasonably kind, with just one severe shower during the afternoon so far, and it's very warm.
It's on again from midday tomorrow, so if you're in the area, it's worth the £2 for the car park, I reckon.
