It's a bit late and I'm pleasantly weary (or something) so apologies if this post is a bit disjointed.
All over the country, there have been launch events for the new Canal & River Trust, but we've been otherwise engaged, stuck here in Mercia as we are!
Things were a bit tedious this morning because the Dataflame servers were down until about 11, so we weren't getting any email; all seems to be well now.
It was a beautifully sunny morning, so we've been doing some repair work on the paint on the roof. Sheila went over the half accessible from the pontoon, cleaning it and marking where there were scratches or dings. I put some RustKonverta on those, and followed it with primer/undercoat as soon as it had done its stuff.
I've just been over them all again with red deck paint; it's not a perfect match, but good enough given that we plan to repaint the whole thing in due course, probably with Ronseal floor paint.
We pottered for the rest of the morning, then went off to join the Walking for Health group at half one. Today was a bit different, as we all piled into cars and went to Ticknall, where we had a fascinating walk around the lime pits and along the route of the trackway that used to link them to the Ashby Canal.
It made a real change, and the weather was perfect for the purpose. The lime pits are on the edge of the grounds of Calke Abbey, another place that would repay a visit one day.
Right, that's your lot, I'm off to sort out grilling some bangers for tea and then sinking a well earned pint of Fursty Ferret.
