Pottering Monday

Well, it's not rained today, makes a change this year. Folk are now full of gloomy prognostications about "this is all going to go on until September", suggesting that we're moving away from Supertramp and into Carole King or Bobby Vee, take your pick...

/wahaha

People keep quoting "The Met Office" to me, which is odd, as there isn't anything on the Met Office website about it, and in any event, they always resist forecasting more than 30 days ahead at the very outside. It's unlikely that we're going to see a roasting hot summer, but neither can we tell what the autumn will bring.

On the upside, info from a marina moorer who's made her way to Wychnor is that the river is still very high, but is going down quite quickly. With no serious rain in the forecast for a few days, we're planning to head out on Wednesday (so we'll dog sit tomorrow) and make our way gently towards Alrewas, probably getting there on Friday, river levels permitting.

We went across to see Justin in the Aqua office this afternoon and paid our bill for the prop change. I was pleasantly surprised; it came well within the budget we'd set, partly because the Crowther prop was less than I'd expected at £412 + VAT, and partly because he'd been very fair with his estimate of the labour charge.

It is so nice to deal with honest people.

Back on the pontoon, we had time for a quick hello with Peter and Janet on Sanity, and to say farewell to Lloyd and Helen on Alice. They've set off for a few weeks out today, heading in the same direction, so we'll probably see them again later.

Tomorrow, we'll be getting boat back into cruising mode, and then on Wednesday we'll pull out of the marina and stop somewhere just beyond Willington, probably.
