Intermittent connection type post

The internet's disappeared for the moment, at least the T-mobile bit of it has, so I’m capturing this as a text file and I’ll post it whenever I can.

The rest of yesterday passed off well, albeit in a rather dozy manner apart from a trip to the Findern Garden Centre, walking out there and catching the bus back. It’s quite a walk from here, so next time I reckon it’ll be the bus both ways.

I got a new waterproof and we got an oregano plant to replace the Greek basil that died on us, probably as a result of the lousy Spring weather. Sheila was looking for Cotton Trader rugby shirts, but found only a limited stock. Wrong time of the year, I guess.

Today I had a good encounter with another of the local GPs, one Dr O’Hara. One of your brisk, efficient and experienced practitioners, a pleasure to deal with. The upshot of it is that I’ve now got enough meds to see me through for a couple of months. One more repeat prescription whilst we’re at Poynton for the Owners’ Weekend and I’ll have enough to get back here in the Autumn.

Back at the boat we turned to and washed and repainted the gunwales. With Geoff’s boat Black Pearl away at the moment, we could use two lines from each of the bow and stern to hold Sanity Again a bit off the pontoon for the work on the port side.

That took us nicely up to lunch, after which we pulled her across to the other side and repeated the process on the starboard gunwale. The only slight problem was that I ran out of Andy Russell Gunwale Black just four feet from the finish. I thought I had another litre in the lower bow locker, but it became clear that that was the one I was presently using.

Midland Chandlers didn’t have the stuff so I’ve had to get some of their hull black to finish the last bit rather than leave it looking all sad and manky. It makes for a good comparison; we’ll be interested to see how it performs, especially as it’s £5 per litre cheaper.

Elanor and Sally are coming round to see us tonight, and Sal is probably coming for the day tomorrow. It’s just a shame that the weather is due to break…
