Lurking below during the storm

We’ve had a very quiet day today, lurking in the boat watching the wind and rain causing havoc outside. We’ve had to fetch the flower troughs off the roof into the well deck to stop them blowing away.

It’s been a day for reading the paper and browsing the web, though the latter’s been hampered by T-mobile having one of its very slow days.

I’m currently exploring the possibilities of replacing my present LCD TFT computer monitor with a LED one. It would reduce the power usage to about 20% of what I’m getting through now; not an issue here in the marina but obviously good when out and about and running off the battery bank.

This monitor draws 10 - 12 amps from the battery bank; a new LED one would be more like 2.

Elanor and Sally are turning up soon, probably, and staying to dinner. I’ve got some chuck steak in which will make a goulash, just the thing for a stormy day.

Tomorrow, we’re going to somewhere called Pleasley Pit, a nature reserve on the site of an old coal mine, as I understand it. We just hope that the rain will be a bit less intense...
