Sunny Newbold

I'd carefully put my watch an hour ahead last night, thus saving trying to do mental arithmetic when half awake this morning. With only the run to Newbold via Tesco to do, and Tesco not opening until ten today as it's Sunday, there was no rush to get going.

It was a really, unequivocally fine day and Sheila made the most of it. The first boat we met was in the bridge hole by Clifton Cruisers, naturally, but I'd popped out onto the bow as we approached and alerted Sheila in good time.

We found a mooring on the towpath at Brownsover and had a quick trip round Tesco, playing with their Scan and Pay system for the first time. If you're not bagging stuff up to go straight into the car boot, I'm not sure it's any quicker than using the self check out, to be honest, but fun to play with all the same.

Loads of room at Newbold again and both pubs doing a roaring trade on Mother's Day. In fact they were turning casual custom away, seemingly.

We've been sat out on the bow this afternoon, so warm it is. Tomorrow on to Sutton's Stop, I reckon.
