Rendezvous at Coven

This morning was a bit of a repeat of yesterday, except that we didn't have competition for the water point. We got going a bit before eight, worked up the lock and went onto the water point. There's recycling and rubbish disposal there too, so we were able to get the boat clear of all that.

By half eight we set out again for the trip along the summit pound, past the Four Ashes chemical plant in decent sunlight. The weather then slowly deteriorated until I was steering in heavy showers, bundled up in waterproofs. Arriving at Coven at half ten, we tied quickly and retreated inside.

The rain has come and gone all day until at three there was a decent break in the clouds and we took ourselves for a walk along the towpath, checking out the pub as we went.

What was the Fox and Anchor, a Vintage Inn, has left that group and reverted to a Free House, becoming just the Anchor Inn again, so we've decided to check it out tonight. Just as we were thinking of turning back, who should we see approaching but Piper Reese with Peter and Sue. They've tied a bit along the moorings from us as they are also rendezvousing with family members on another boat.

Sheila has had her handover session with Sue who is taking on the organisation of the Owners' weekend, brave soul.

Tomorrow, we'll make an early start to get through the Pendeford Rockin' in good time, since there's a lot of traffic about this year.
