After a bad night's sleep the night before last, I was rather staggering about a bit yesterday. Nonetheless, a lot got done, largely thanks to the enthusiastic help of the owners; most of those coming by boat have now arrived. By the end of the day, we had:
- Put the marquee and the two gazebos up, the gazebos just nicely fitting across the front of the marquee, so that the whole lawn is pretty well covered
- Done a lot of boat juggling as follows:
- Eleventh Heaven came out of the yard, winded and went onto the Deeps
- Thomas Tallis came out of the paint dock and went for a little trip up and down.
- The empty shell pulled out under the towpath bridge, whilst we moved Starshine into the paint dock
- The shell was held over behind the paint dock whilst we brought Sanity Again, who had had a pump out meanwhile, into the slot alongside the paint dock
- The shell was moved over behind Sanity Again
- Thomas Tallis came back in onto the slot behind the paint dock (and if that all sounds complicated, it was!)
Today, we need to do the last cleaning jobs on Sanity Again, and there will be a another quick shuffle taking Thomas Tallis back out and putting Dolce Far Niente in her place for the weekend. There's the bunting and signs to put up, and tables and chairs to arrange.
Right at the end of the day, as we getting ready to go down to the Boar's Head for another meal, this time with a selection of other owners, Chris and Anne Blaydon arrived. They've just flown in from Australia and will move onto Thomas Tallis today. Chris tells me he is an avid blog follower, and said some very kind things about the blog, for which I'm really grateful. It cheered me up no end.
And now I know who that follower was in Perth WA I've been wondering about for years…
