Start the day with a shuffle

We had ham risotto last night, which tasted just fine according to my live-in critic, but must have been a bit salty for me, as I was wakeful for quite a bit of the night with a dry mouth. No matter, we got going in reasonable time, and at just after half eight we were starting the boat shuffle.

Ice Breaker was winded and tied on the water point, then we brought the shell that one day will be One Day out and tied it on the shop mooring. After that, Stephen and Jayne backed Dolce Far Niente out of the paint dock and yard, and put her on the hire boat mooring where Ice Breaker had been, which latter boat was then moved into the paint dock instead. Finally, the shell was brought back in and it was all done.

It took about an hour all told, and we celebrated with hot chocolates and coffee from Andy at The Trading Post. Dolce has left now, heading for a rendezvous with one of their sons at Macc tomorrow.

We relaxed for the rest of the morning, after I'd popped down the hill to get a paper, and had a leisurely lunch. Feeling a bit dozy afterwards, we took ourselves for a walk in the pleasant sunshine (though it's still quite cool in the breeze), heading up the canal past Mad Jack's moorings to sit on the bench by Bridge 13.

Whilst there, a small convoy of boats came through, the last two being New Dawn and Eleventh Heaven. We caught up with them as they were tying on the shop mooring to get diesel, and suggested that they breast up on the hire boat mooring, since Tiree is out for a fortnight and the Deeps were looking rather full. After a bit of a natter with them, we've been loafing in the cabin, doing the crossword and the like.

Sheila's run a couple of washloads today; hopefully the stuff will have dried quite a lot on the bungalow whirligig as there's a gentle breeze and still a bit of sun.

Tomorrow, we'll hang about, having a lie in for once, and waiting for Martin to return to collect the keys for Ice Breaker.
