This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Still no photos...
We’re having a great time here, but not a quiet one! On impulse we invited Peter and Susan to share our chilli con carne last night. Like so many unplanned things, it worked out really well, and we didn’t stay up too late.
This was just as well, as at four in the morning we heard car doors closing and voices around the yard. On investigation, three white vans were seen parked in the drive with what looked like water utility logos on the side.
A couple of guys in hi vis were walking up and down the road shining handlamps about. Since they didn’t seem to be planning to steal the boat yard, we went back to bed, but naturally took an age to get back to sleep.
Today’s activities were:
1) I walked into Poynton first thing for bread and stuff.
2) We made a mega effort to clean the inside of the boat, deploying one of the yard’s Henries. The Dust Buster we keep on board is good, but not a match for a proper industrial standard vacuum cleaner.
3) We restored all the deck furniture to the roof; the plants will stay on the ground until we’re finally ready to leave.
4) In discussion with Peter and Susan, we’ve decided to stay in the yard until after the holiday weekend. Apart from anything else, it will let us do some more gardening.
5) After lunch, we made a start on aforesaid gardening, then got involved in a mega boat shuffle. Sanity Again was moved out and breasted up outside Shiraz, which is on the hire boat Tiree’s mooring, Tiree being out for the weekend on a taster session. Just Siviting was moved out and moored on the Deeps where she’ll stay until after the Open Day. The spec boat shell was moved across the yard so that Johnny could stand on her roof to revarnish the big sign over the paint dock doors. We were going to bring Sanity Again back in at that stage and had started to do so, but the spec boat shell needed to be back where she started so as to have an engine installed tomorrow. So we stopped for an ice cream and finished these moves at four o’clock.
6) We’re now catching up on the regular stuff, me doing the blog and Sheila dead heading the flower troughs.
A quiet night tonight and then more of the same tomorrow!
