Suddenly damp

A quieter day today, with a very lazy start. I had planned to do some boatwork; the engine’s due a service and there’s some touching up to do of the paintwork in and around the bow. Unfortunately, possibly because I’d expressed this intention out loud yesterday, it decided to rain today.

In fact, it tipped it down for a good deal of the morning. We took a walk round to the lodge to talk about locks on cupboards and the like, and on the way back looked in at the marina office to discuss inventories and invoices.

We’ve decided not to supply a carry cot and high chair; guests will be welcome to bring small children, but will need to bring the relevant gear with them. In our experience, that’s what most folk do these days. The various bits of kits tend to be adaptable from one mode of use to another and anyway, I think most parents are happier using their own stuff for very young kids.

Lucy later emailed the main invoice to Sheila; Elanor let us know at lunchtime that another has arrived from Pinelog. This will be the one for the extra stuff we had, mainly as part of making the lodge disabled friendly.

After lunch, Sheila went into the village to get a hair cut and I did some more research on the net, this time for laundry markers and a floor squeegee for the wet room.

This afternoon it was back round to the site; we decided where the mirrors will go in the bedrooms and admired progress. I’ve not taken any more photos for the moment as said progress is stuff like the final trims going on and the rain water goods being attached. Important and satisfying that it’s done, but not terribly photogenic.

Things are happening inside, too, but I may as well wait until that’s mainly finished before taking some shots of it. The gas has been connected but not turned on; we’re waiting for the electricity and water to be done still.

All these need their own tradesmen, of course. As a technically mobile home that will be rented out, it all has to be certificated.

Tomorrow, we’re dog sitting, so I may see if Sally is in a mood to do a blog again.

No promises, mind.
