Sheila did one of her flying starts this morning, leaving me drinking tea and listening to Today in bed whilst she set off along the cut. As a result, we were in Rugeley by nine, and had a mega shop in Morrisons and Lowndes, the greengrocer opposite.
Back at the boat, Sheila set off again whilst I made a coffee and put all the booty away. It took me until we reached the Brindley Bank aqueduct to do so. The weather was pleasant enough, but not very exciting. There's been a lot more traffic today, a result of being near the Four Counties Ring, probably.
We tied for the day by the pig farm near Bridge 69, and have been pottering since, catching up with email, crocheting, abusing idiot PR companies who use my "webmaster at" email address to send me media releases of no interest at all. (This means you, Cision. I'd be less irritated if the things were better written.)
At least the baby piggies over the other side of the canal are entertaining, though it feels a bit mean to smile at them in view of tonight's menu.
It's going to be pork loin chops.
I've washed the port side of the cabin, since the towpath is on that side at the moment. The cunning wash device continues to earn its keep, making the whole thing much less of a drag. I was able to wash, rinse and dry the side in less than an hour. We're coming up to needing to polish it again, but that means both of us feeling energetic at the same time.

Tomorrow, on through Great Haywood to Weston, probably.

Bruce, do tell, what's the cunning wash device? NB Free Spirit needs a spring clean and 55ft x 2 is not something I'm looking forward to!
Hi
It's the Washmatik system, which uses a non return valve at the end of a pipe in your bucket of suds, and a car wash brush at the other end. Once primed, the up and down motion of the brush pumps the water through the valve.
They don't seem to be available from direct sales websites just now, but I found several by searching on eBay.
Highly recommended - we got ours at Crick.
All the best
Bruce
Cheers Bruce.
