Made it to Crick

I'm just doing a quickie post today, as we are still getting sorted out here on Bunnies Warren at Crick.

We had a great night last night with Chris and Lesley again, but copped out early to get an early night. We were up in good time this morning, finished packing the car and set off. We'd decided to go via the Peak District and the M1, so it was a case of slogging up from Hazel Grove alongside the line of the Peak Forest Canal, finally turning off the A6 after Chapel en le Frith and travelling through what would have been beautiful scenery if it hadn't been totally hidden by mist.

We made a brief stop in Chesterfield, then got onto the motorway and trundled south; at least the mist had cleared away.

We got to Crick by half eleven, had a coffee with Sharon and Ian, unloaded the car and took it into Rugby to return. Sharon and Ian followed in theirs, and very kindly took us for a pub lunch in the Red Lion in Crick. So that makes four excellent pub meals in even better company in four days.

Back at the boat, Ian gave us the operstional briefing and pulled her out onto the main line for us.

They've set off home now, and we've managed to stow all our stuff, get a cup of tea and start winding down.

Tomorrow, Braunston.

It's time-lapse prose - how quick the trip sounds by car!
