Quiet day at Stone

After the exercise of the past few days, we've taken the chance to chill out here at Stone. We're on a five day mooring, and don't need to leave before Saturday to make my appointment in Alrewas, so it's just been very pleasant.

I've taken the chance to catch up with email correspondence, and we ambled down to the recycling bins and off loaded about half of what has built up whilst we've been gettin' 'em ahead. We'll get rid of most of the rest tomorrow, though there's no bin for plastic, drat.

Coming back through the centre, I was able to buy a newspaper, and some more dental floss. We've been having trouble finding our preferred brand recently, so when we spotted some in the small independent pharmacy, we got two packs.

Back at the boat, some more reading and surfing took place, and then lunch. After a bit of a post prandial doze, a walk seemed like a good idea, despite the quite heavy April showers.

We went down to Yard Lock, and followed the signs for the Riverside Walk, which did indeed take us to the bank of the Trent. You can get in a pleasant, not too demanding stroll, past a canoe slalom course (pause to watch a lone canoeist practising) and then to a field across which you can get back to the canal towpath beside the Scout HQ.

Back at the boat, we had a late cup of tea and bit more reading.

Spag Bol for supper tonight, methinks, and another early night, probably.
