We had a good evening's entertainment last night, eating in the Boar's Head with David and Anne off Load of Hay. They came back to Sanity Again for a glass of wine afterwards, and we had a merry time putting the world to rights.
Partly as a result, we weren't leaping out of bed first thing this morning, but had a leisurely start. I nipped out after breakfast to take some recycling to the tip and to get a paper, then we ambled round to Adlington in bright sun, though the breeze stayed cool.
After lunch, we rinsed the starboard side of the boat and finally got it polished. It looks much better for it – we'll try and get it done again in a couple of months' time, so as to protect the paintwork over the winter. Despite a fair number of gongoozlers strolling by, we actually managed to do the whole thing without either a suggestion that we should do the observer's boat after we'd finished ours, or a reference to the Karate Kid (wax on, wax off).

A quite evening tonight, then a decently long run to Macclesfield, either Gurnett Aqueduct or Lyme Green, tomorrow. We'll stay there over Monday, as we need to pop into town to bank the cheques from the charity auction.
