Progress: the cratch continued

So I rang Wilson's this morning to ask where Keith had got to yesterday. Davina, with whom I had been dealing, was on day off, sensible woman, and I spoke to Tom. He was surprised that I had rung, as according to the jobs list, Keith was due to turn up today…

This he did, just after lunch, and we had a very satisfactory conversation. In view of the cold weather, he didn't want to deprive us of our cratch now, so said that he would clear it with the management to come back on another occasion when he had a job in the marina and measure up the existing wings for replacement.

He was very sure that repairing these ones was not worthwhile. Since we're not planning on going anywhere now until the Spring, this should work well. When the new wings are ready, he'll bring them across, again probably co-ordinating it with another job here, and swap the new for old.

Apparently Wilson's have changed the subcontractor they are using to make the cratch (or, more properly deck) board, so it's to be hoped that the new wings will perform better.

Having got all this sorted, we took a very brisk walk into the village (it's that kind of weather, with a very lazy north wind) and did a bit of shopping at the Co-op.

We've watched the final Campion episode, and are looking forward to a quiet evening.

Tomorrow, we plan to help the volunteer group here do some offside vegetation management; C&RT have loaned them a boat to use for the purpose, the one Sally got so excited about on Tuesday.

Writing of whom, Elanor and Sally plan to come across in the late afternoon with post and stuff.
