We're just back from Elanor's and feeling well exercised, so I won't take ages over this post; I need to carry on cleaning white paint from my fingers…
/wahaha
Actually, paint has moved on since my early decorating days; this is white gloss, but it's water based, seemingly, very strange and I'm not sure that it covers as well as the oil based stuff. Maybe I'm just getting conservative in my old age, perish the thought.
This morning was very pleasant, we pottered a bit and did some work on our books. I've decided that if I do a recipe a day I'll just about get it finished for the end of February, taking into account the introductory chapters on kit and so on. This would be at about the same time of year as we published our books last year. Sheila's rather ahead of me, even though her stuff needs much more creativity.
Elanor and Sally turned up just after one, as planned, and we all had a good dash about in the fields, which are starting to dry out a bit. That is, they are in fact still pretty wet, but Sally doesn't have a great splashy wave around her as she gallops along.
Over at Elanor's house, I glossed the bathroom door whilst Sheila carried on scraping paint off the tiles in the kitchen. It's one of the mysteries of the decorative order of the house that some very nice oatmeal coloured tiles with occasional harvest mouse type prints on them had been overpainted with alternating bilious green and murky orange.
This kept us all busy until a bit after four whilst Sally demolished a large bone. Actually, that's a bit casual with the verité; I finished well before the others and then hung about giving a hand here and there and offering advice.
You can tell that the weather has improved – I didn't bother relighting the stove until we got back this afternoon.
Tomorrow, litter picking in the morning, and maybe washing the roof in the afternoon, we'll see how much energy we've got left.

Happy New Year to you all!
I agree that the water-based gloss is not as good, but I'll sacrifice a paint finish for an easy-to-clean brush any day!
Oh, and it doesn't matter if you don't mention bread but we do need to know about the paper!
