It's been another day in which the planning has turned out to be spot on. We'd reckoned on around three hours boating from Streethay to Alrewas and, needing to stop off to top up the water tank, set off at half seven. We got to Fradley just on eight and managed to get onto the water point on the Coventry; a boat I won't embarrass by name appeared to have been on there all night, leaving only just room for Sanity Again at the further tap if we used a bit of the swing bridge landing.
However, Sheila, who'd gone ahead to check the situation, radioed it back to me whilst standing just by the back cabin, the owner took the hint, started up and moved off as I arrived.
Tank full, we carried on down the locks – there was a steady stream of boats going down, with an occasional contrarian coming up. At just before eleven we managed to get on the moorings between the by-pass bridge and Bagnall Lock; on our arrival we had a chance to chat to Kate and Dave off Braidbar 130 Bosley. They're tied just the other side of the bridge from us.
Walking down into the village just before lunch enabled us to pop into the dentists to get check up appointments for Friday, so we'll be here until the weekend. It's good that we're tied above Bagnall under these circumstances, as you can run an engine here without worrying about disturbing the local residents. Wednesday we'll probably head into Burton for the day; I need to have a blood test before my scan on Monday.
Apart from that it's a chance to get the port side of the boat washed down and to potter about. Laundry will have to wait since we don't want to use too much water. At least Sheila will be able to catch up next week when we're back in the marina.
