Dog to dog blog: soggy day in Willington

Hi guys

Since the AGPs are spending the week in the marina, I thought I’d come and check them out for a day; gets me away from the cat for a bit if nothing else.

It was seriously wet first thing, but by the time Grandpa had got his act together to take me for a walk it had almost stopped. We went along the canal and down the main road in the village to where the track leads to the gravel pits.

Here I had a chat with a couple of pleasant pooches; they looked like smallish labradoodles to me but their mum said that they were bred to chase wolves away, so must have been something else. I can’t imagine a labradoodle chasing anything bar the next meal.

Any way, after admiring me for a bit, their mum suggested we explore a big meadow just along the track as it was empty of dogs, humans and anything else. She was right; it was a very good field for charging about in, best session I’ve had like that for ages, even if it was a bit warm. Also the grass was very high and very wet.

At least the wet kept me a bit cool.

When we’d been right round we walked back to the boat along the road, me doing my best to behave as Grandpa is a total sucker for treats just for heeling properly and other peasy stuff.

I needed a good wipe down back at the boat and then we had lunch, I had a chew and we all had a bit of a kip in the muggy heat. I know, it’s not muggy, it’s Thursday but that joke is so old even spaniels have got the hang of it.

Finally we took a walk round the marina “to admire the latest lodge that was delivered this morning”. At least that’s the reason the AGPs gave. Bit feeble if you ask me. Not many people about, even Stewart just drove by on his tractor giving me a wave in passing.

No matter, I’ve had a chance for a bit more kip and I’ve chewed a couple of bits of grit. This a) keeps my teeth clean and b) gives the AGPs the willies.

Result all round, in fact.

Take care, guys
