Another Sunny Wheelock Sunday

Actually, the forecast was for a dry morning and a wet afternoon, so after breakfast and the obligatory trip to the paper shop, we turned to and washed the starboard side of the boat. It had got very dusty in the hot weather; we’d some thought of polishing it as well, but decided to take a break for coffee first.

Just as well we did; the first of the rain arrived not long after, so we’d have been half way through polishing when it did.

Pleasantly wearied by all this, we’ve not done too much else that’s energetic, frankly. It’s been a day for browsing the internet, looking up the answers we couldn’t get in yesterday’s general knowledge crossword and replying to one or two emails.

Pleasingly, this included one from our old friends on Anglesey, Will and Pauline Tyrer. I’d had a suspiciously odd email from them, the result of their address book being hacked, so I’d dropped them an email myself to let them know it had happened.

A case of clouds and silver linings, this led Will to reply. Since they do a bit of caravanning, there’s also a chance that we’ll manage to meet up with them one of these days, which would be very pleasant indeed.

Tomorrow, we’ll make an early start, probably in the rain, and set off up the Cheshire Locks, aka Heartbreak Hill. We’re being chased by Peter and Susan in their hire boat, Tiree; Graham and Beryl in this year’s showboat, Priscilla II, are heading the other way, downhill.

It’ll be a day to watch out for Braidbars on Heartbreak Hill.
