This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Getting stuff done Tuesday
It’ll be no surprise to readers to learn that we had a very good night last night with Des and Gill, even allowing for my cooking…
(That’s today’s modesty budget satisfied :P)
They'd brought Sheila a nice cyclamen as well as the can of Andy Russell Gunnel Black I’d asked Des to get from the Trading Post for me. The only downside is that I’ve now no excuse for not getting on and repainting the well deck.
Although we were latish to bed, we managed to get going in reasonable time this morning; we’re still getting the benefit of the hour going back, so six a.m. feels more like seven.
I had a good encounter with Dr O'Hara and got everything sorted out that needed to be. I was out of the surgery by quarter to nine so had to hang around a bit for the pharmacy to open; I took the opportunity to do some shopping in the Co-op.
Back at the boat Sheila had finished clearing up after last night and we were able to potter about for the rest of the morning, including getting a bag of coal from the shop. Sheila is catching up with the washing she didn’t get done yesterday because I was wrestling with the Hurricane in the engine room.
After lunch we risked a brisk walk round the marina, only stopping to chat a couple of times; the weather is very mixed now, generally cooler with some really pleasant sunny intervals interspersed with very heavy showers.
Tonight we’re being observers at the Boaters and Lodgers Forum by invitation; the marina management pays for a meal at the Thai Restaurant in the Rising Sun whilst the elected representatives of the pontoon groups and the lodge owners discuss matters of mutual concern with them.
I’m quite looking forward to it, not least because it lets me off cooking after last night's efforts…
/wahaha
