This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

A varied day in Mercia
It’s been an odd sort of day, starting off with my visit to the surgery for some fasting blood tests. Sheila kindly stayed in bed whilst I got ready and set off so as not to torment me by eating breakfast in front of me.
The new surgery seems to be settling down well, though they’d managed to lose a repeat prescription I’d ordered. According to their records, it had been processed but was nowhere to be found. No matter, whilst I was having needles stuck on me and my toes tickled, they generated another one and popped it straight over to the in-house pharmacy for me.
The Willington diabetes check up includes doing the foot checking and BP taking when they take your blood, which was interesting; I guess the aim is to reduce the load on the qualified nurses by getting the Health Care Assistants to do these routine tasks. I’m due to see the nurse in a couple of weeks for the other half of the process.
Back at the boat I scoffed breakfast whilst Sheila went and got the paper I’d forgotten to collect on my way back – hypoglycaemia can have some terrible effects on your metal state…
/wahaha
The Ocado delivery arrived at half eleven and was soon transferred into the boat. Our checking through it discovered that unusually, a litre of UHT milk was missing. I’ve put in the claim for a refund; it may only be a quid, but it’s important to let them know when things go wrong.
We had a pleasant stroll round the marina after lunch, stopping to chat to various folk as we did so. It’s been a pleasant day weatherwise, though there’s more cold on the way, seemingly.
We continue to wrestle with the iPad; the version of iTunes on both Macs has had to be updated to cope. It’s a good job we’ve now got all you can eat data on the 3 contract to cover all these downloads. I should add that Sheila is very pleased with it. My Christmas present to her, a cover for the beast, is on its way and should arrive tomorrow.
We’ll be easing off over the weekend, but have another active social life lined up for next week, including a visit from John and Nev of Waimaru, something to look forward to indeed.
