Dog to dog blog: doing some part time social work

Hi guys

I’m putting in a two day stint on the boat this week – Mum says it’s so she can get some rest, but really I think she wants me to check up on the AGPs, who are looking a bit tattered already and it’s only November. Anyway, I dragged them out round the marina this morning, even though it was chucking it down. I could tell they didn’t really want to go, but I made a big thing about it.

On the way I managed to get some very satisfactory attention from the strange old dears who hang about outside the facilities block smoking and swigging coffee half the morning; even blagged a treat off Dom and Lexie’s Mum, so a result there. I think it’s really good of the marina to make sure that these people have a purpose in life and some chance to socialise instead of sitting around on their... boats all day.

=))

We were well soaked by the time we got round, but I didn’t complain, duty must be done and all that. I let them rest until after lunch, but then hauled them out again for a serious walk. I know that they get upset if they get their feet too wet, so persuaded them to take me along the towpath towards Stenson and back through Findern. Got some off lead rummaging either side of the bridge where we crossed the canal, but then had to go back on through the village and down the road.

That was a good idea anyway as by now Grandma was beginning to lag a bit, so encouraging them onwards by tugging on the lead is a good strategy.

While I remember, Grandpa says thanks to Jo and Ann for their suggestions about what I should wear when undergoing bombardment, Thundershirts vs tee shirts  – I’m not so sure myself, it’s given them some weird ideas about suitable clothing.

I’ll let you all know what happens tomorrow.

Meanwhile, folks, hang in there; the war is nearly over for this year and it should be much quieter after tonight, thank heavens. I really could do with a decent night’s kip, quite frankly.

Lots of licks

Your friend

Sally

Hi Sally
We may look like old dears to you, but we are really 21year old surveillance officers, (the disguise works then)! We are employed by the marina to keep a lookout for moorers wearing dodgy Braidbar jackets, have you seen anyone answering that description?
It was nice meeting you and keep up your posts, they are much more interesting than that other fella who posts on here!!
Love from your auntie Chris x
