A Derby day

So there I was last night, flossing my teeth before bed, when the floss jammed and snapped. It took an amazingly long time to extract the loose end; indeed, I’m not sure I’ve even got it all out now. More tediously, after I’d done, I realised that there was something of a hole in the filling alongside where the floss had jammed, and that a small bit of amalgam was lying on the surface beside the wash basin.

It’s not painful or anything, so I’ve booked an appointment with our dentist in Alrewas for Wednesday afternoon, allowing us to go into Derby as planned today. What’s more, that kind man Ian Birks has agreed to run me over there, saving me two double bus journeys and a probable soaking.

He’s a very, very nice man…

:)

Our trip into the great metropolis went well, too, with all objectives achieved, one of which was the making of eye test appointments on Friday. It’s going to be quite a busy week, one way and another. I quite enjoy the bus ride into Derby; it’s just the right length and on a fine day like today very pleasant.

We’ve been a bit quieter this afternoon, after we’d walked round the marina and spoken to Ian near his boat Nobby. He keeps it on the superberths (which have a finger pontoon down both sides of the boat), a case of Nobby being on the nobby moorings as it were.

Elanor is popping in this evening for a fringe trim and Sally will be with us tomorrow as usual, so there’s a chance of a blog from her.
