Sheila had a good night’s sleep last night, but mine was a bit interrupted by my strained side muscle. It’s right above my right hip, so every time I turned over in bed it woke me up. No matter, it’s not as if I had a lot to do today, especially in view of the weather, which tipped it down all morning.
It stopped enough in the afternoon for Elanor to come over with Sally. We all went to the North field and Sheila did the tyre throwing for once. The surface of the field was very wet, of course, so Sal had a great time plodging through the puddles.
On occasions the tyre would fall into a boggy area leading to Sal getting thoroughly soaked as she caught it.
Once she was looking well puffed, we carried on round the marina. Sven was standing outside the door to the office as we passed, both manning the office whilst Jules showed a prospective lodge purchaser through Laurel Lodge and keeping an eye on a swan casualty.
One of the adults had crash landed on top of a Shakespeare hire boat and was looking very sorry for itself with a bloodied beak. Sven had called the RSPCA, who turned up just before we finished our walk.
Sheila had her camera with her, so got some shots of the rescue:

The Swan went first to the vet to get the gashed knob seen to. Then on to Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Cheshire which is run by the RSPCA. They hope that after a few days it will be ready to come home. I'm to ring our RSPCA girl later in the week.
