This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Fame at last on a good day
I’ve been writing this blog for seven years now (good grief) and the rate of visits per day has varied between 150 and 250 since it became established. It's currently towards the lower end of that, it being winter and a bit dull but I’m quite pleased with those numbers and hope to go on giving an insight into our lifestyle for many years to come.
However, I’m expecting a massive boost to the figures any time now; we’ve been mentioned in the Mercia Mercury, the monthly marina newsletter ably produced by Jo James (I have to say that, she’s got a phenomenal right hook :)) ). Jo was passing on the tip about tying a black plastic sack over the stern fender to discourage home-making coots.
It’s quite a compliment; there’s only a couple of sides to the newsletter and space is at a premium. Thanks, Jo!
We’ve had a good day overall; the weather's continued spring-like and Elanor and Sally visited as planned. I spent the balance of the morning advising Elanor about some stuff to do with her MacBook and in prosecuting her job search. She’s got a steady job at the moment, and lucky to have one you may well say, but she’s part of the new phenomenon, the underemployed, and would really like something that uses her skills a bit more.
After we’d eaten, we decided that the copse would still be too boggy, so settled for a charge around in field two, chasing the tyre, hunting for bunnies and paddling in the ditch (well, her paws were a bit muddy, Sally said).
The two of them headed off at around two and we’ve been relaxing in the boat since. The Jumbo crossword is proving its usual challenge but it’s supposed to be good for us and protective against dementia…

We’ve nothing special planned for tomorrow, have to see how we feel in the morning...
