Back again

Gosh that was a bonzer weekend! Mind you the iPad spillchucker tried to make that a "boozer weekend", which wouldn't be quite fair...

It's great seeing the boys from time to time like this, it really gives us a chance to appreciate them growing up. They'd both had glowing reports from school, too.

Saturday's trip to Sudbury Hall went very well, the ideal move for a very wet day. Sunday morning we took the boys into field two and exercised them with the aid of a frisbee and a strange kind of boomerang. Not that different to working Sally, really.

;)

The family left on Sunday; Elanor came across in the afternoon, as I said yesterday, and I had a go at running Sally in the field on my own. This is normally no problem, but she was a) hot and b) knew Mummy was still around somewhere, so just didn't want to play. At one point I threw the tyre for her, it landed in a patch of thistles and she just stood and looked at it. A further glance towards me clearly said “you threw it, you can fetch it”.

Things went better today, when we all went to the Washlands for a good walk and rummage. Sal is getting very fond of paddling in the river but declines to swim in it. This was just as well today; the Trent is running very fast after all the rain.

On the way back we called in at Shobnall and got a quote for blacking Sanity Again. This was very satisfactory, so we've booked her in for docking in the middle of March.

We've had a quieter afternoon, though Sheila's been running around doing the laundry, it being a Monday. It's actually our 43rd wedding anniversary today, but we're too weary after the weekend to do much. We'll have to have the evening out when we're feeling a bit more energetic...

43rd? But that means you must have been mere children when you wed...Congrats, both.

Thank you both, it's much appreciated.

Next year sees our Ruby Boating Anniversary, we having first hired in '75, but we haven't decided how to celebrate it yet.

Take care one and all

Bruce

How odd . We first hired in the same year! Lobster pot on stern deck with eldest child inside on a very flooded river soar! Saw a narrowboat straddled over a cow drinking trough a couple of days later when the water had subsided somewhat. Ah memories xx
