Busy if slightly confused

Guess what, we changed our minds again...

The forecast had changed again, so we've stayed put today and finished the work on the boat on a breezy day. Tomorrow may be damp, but much calmer; I'd rather be wet than blown about when trying to manoeuvre the boat.

I finished applying Owatrol to the bow flashes, and we restored the mooring lines to their usual configuration. Later in the morning, Elanor brought her laptop across for a service as we were wondering if it was misbehaving. A dose of DiskWarrior and a software update reassured us that all was well.

After lunch, she repaid the favour by taking us to Betty's Farm to restock on meat and veg, then went off to get on with her own chores this afternoon.

Meanwhile, we braced ourselves and put the Turk's Head on the bow fender. It's not as central or as neat as I would have liked, but not bad for a first attempt at a large scale one. Whether large or small, the final challenge with a Turk's Head is finishing off and securing the free ends. I hope I've managed it this time; fortunately, it's buried round the back where it can't be seen.

We made a start at refixing the beast, using the strop with two eye splices I made the other day, but had to break for a cup of tea before completing it. It's in place now, though; we're glad to get it done before the boat is facing the other way. Working on the bow is much easier when you've got a pontoon across the front as well as down the side.

Tomorrow, definitely a pump out...
