I am very sad to tell all Bruce’s followers that he passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon.
He was admitted to the Royal Derby Hospital on 2/1/2020 and after a week he was transferred to the Nightingale Macmillan Unit within that hospital. We couldn’t have asked for better care. Although I and the rest of the family are very sad to lose him there is also relief that his suffering is over.
I will not be continuing this blog as I will be staying in the marina for most of this year. However I will continue Bruce’s other blog “One More Darned Boat” as I report on the build of the new boat in a slightly modified form to suit single handed living.
Best wishes to you all.
Sheila Napier

We are very sad to read this news. For years we have followed Bruce's highly informative and droll posts, have read of your adventures as continuous and then part-time liveaboards and of your commitment to your boat builder. We have passed your boat in several places and up at Poynton. Bruce's physical and digital presence on the waterways will be greatly missed.
Our sincere condolences to you, Sheila, and to the Napier family.

Hello Sheila and family,
We only met you and Bruce once at the Hack Green locks and it was lovely to spend even that short amount of time with you having read Bruce's blog for over such a long period - his down to earth writing style and content were very reassuring for a new boat owner.
It is a blessing that his suffering is over and it is still very hard to say goodbye to a beloved person who has been in your lives for so long.
My best wishes for peace and comfort in the coming days and months.

I am so very very sorry to read of Bruce's passing. I have followed your blog for years and found lots of humour and inspiration from it. Such a shock to read of Bruce's illness and this is a post I did not want to write. Take very good care of yourself Sheila. Much love, Sue & NB Cheeky "B" xxx (we once got grounded right in front of you and ended up being written about, which I loved!)
