Almost spring like

The weather isn't especially pleasant at the moment (though it's quite mild) as there's still a nor' westerly blowing. But just occasionally there's a hint of spring, when the sun comes out for a bit. The ice has almost completely gone, with just some rotten looking sheets lurking in sheltered bays.

We saw a hire boat set off this morning, it being half term. Sooner them than me, I thought, but if you're still working you have to take your holidays when you can, I guess.

We were sufficiently struck by the change in the air to emulate the opening chapter of Wind in the Willows, and start some spring cleaning. We did a thorough sweep of the floor, and then Sheila turned to with bucket and sponge and washed it. This has to be done in stages when it's not nice enough to sit outside, but by the end of the morning it was all done.

No Moles, Water Rats or Toads turned up, however.

The washing machine ran another three loads, bringing the laundry up to date, and we fitted in a walk round the marina in the middle of the day.

Book sales have been chugging steadily on – between us we've sold 90 copies altogether, which is a load more than we'd expected, frankly. Most of the sales have been in the UK, with just a handful via amazon.com, that is, America and the rest of the world bar Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In these countries, amazingly, we've sold none at all.

I blame the eurozone crisis.
