Today saw Lloyd and Helen set off in Alice for Shobnall and a date for blacking. They're the first to leave of the folk who've been on these pontoons all winter, so it could be said to be a sign of spring to see them go. We'll miss them, as Lloyd is always ready with a merry quip, but they'll be back later, so no doubt we'll have the pleasure of their company again.
At eleven, we met up with Trevor and Rachel in the Willow Tree. They've had the good sense to buy both our books, and have a build slot booked with Aqua here in the marina. We had a good old natter with them, and invited them back to see the boat on Saturday evening, when possibly a small amount of alcohol may be consumed.

We couldn't give them the show round (or "nosey" as Rachel so accurately put it) today, as we needed to get lunch and then be off for our weekly walk. When we got to the meeting place by the Dragon, Ivor Bachelor was to be seen winding Lepus. They were just off to Shardlow for the weekend, and then away on their year's boating. Spring is definitely in the air.
The walk proved to be an amble along the towpath to Bridge 20, the one at the Nadee restaurant, along the road for a bit and then across the fields to Potlocks Bridge and so back to Willington on the towpath.
During the tea and soft drink session in the Green Man, the group presented us with a personalised Bon Voyage card, in case we don't make it to the walk next week. This was a really nice touch, and shows what a very friendly bunch they are.
Our own planning has matured a bit; we'll probably leave the marina next Thursday morning, stopping on the way out to diesel, pump out and replace the gas cylinder that's nearly empty. Then we'll tie on the towpath in Willington for Thursday night, so hopefully getting in another walk, before making a reasonably early start on Friday morning and going all the way through to Branston.
