It wasn't as cold last night as the night before, but where the snow hadn't cleared it was pretty icy first thing. After a leisurely start, we went round to the shop and got the paper, a copy of Canal Boat, and a bag of Supertherm which I wheeled back on the spiffy new truck. My policy for now will be to buy just one bag at a time, so as to avoid having bags stood around in the well deck.
Perusal of the mag showed two things; Martin Ludgate had given me a good thumbnail review for Building Sanity Again (many thanks, Martin) and we've won the Christmas Quiz again. That makes the fourth year running we've been in the money, or whisky rather. We reckon we scored 65 out of a possible 70, so we're pretty pleased with ourselves. There were another two winners, so there must have been at least three entries this time.

Having taken the stuff back to the boat and emptied the coal straight into the coal box, we set off to the village. Sheila had a finished doily to post to a customer, and we had some top up food shopping to do at the Co-op. By the time we got back and put it all away, it was lunchtime. After lunch, we walked back to the village to join the Walkers for Health.
Route choices are a bit restricted at the moment, as the towpath is a sheet of ice, so we crossed the river and wandered about in the fields on the other side for a bit, ending up walking back along the riverside. It made for a shortish walk, but very welcome for all that.
We had our usual tea and soft drink session in the Green Man, then came back to the boat. I've since moved the stock from last week's roast chicken on towards becoming soup, and put on a beef casserole for tonight. After doing this, I'm looking forward to a quiet evening.
Oh, one other thing – the elections have opened for the Canal and River Trust Council. The Electoral Reform Society seem to be doing a good job so far; they've emailed the security codes you need to vote online, as well as posting out voting papers, so it's a very boater friendly process.
