Goodbye to the Poangs

Now there's a phrase you don't hear very often…

/nobigdeal

It was indeed a very hard frost last night, and the water surface was completely frozen again this morning. In recompense, it's been a gloriously sunny day. We walked down to the village to buy carrots, as I didn't have enough in stock to make the carrot and coriander soup properly last night. We also took the opportunity to buy one or two other bits and pieces; I've got an Ocado order coming in on Monday, so it was  a case of getting enough stuff to keep us going until then.

Elanor arrived just as we were finishing lunch. She and I took Sally for a session chasing her frisbee in the field, then we left the pooch with Sheila and loaded Elanor's car with the bits of the Poang chairs. Driving them round to the service block 2 car park, we delivered them to Alison's boat on Redshank pontoon.

Alison got back from shopping in Burton just as we did so, which saved her trekking back round to Grebe pontoon to pay us for them.

Returning to Sanity Again, it was my turn to dog sit whilst Elanor and her mum went into the village to look at Tangent Treasures, a craft shop. They seem to have resisted the urge to buy anything, which is a bit of a first.

Elanor has now taken Sal away to give her a shower and pedicure; if you slap her back vigorously, clouds of dander fly into the air.

We're settling down for a quiet night, which hopefully won't be quite as cold as last night. The forecast is for a slow thaw over the next few days, which I admit will be welcome. The frost and snow is very nice for a while – we took the opportunity to stroll round the marina just now and it was very pleasant – but it gets to be a bit of a bore when it goes on and on and on...
