We had a great night last night, eating in the Boars Head with Chris and Les, and then eventually finding our way back to Sanity Again for final drinks of one sort or another. It meant that we didn't get to bed until nearly midnight, but it was well worth it.
Today, we've been doing various things to be ready for our trip on Monday. Sheila borrowed the washer dryer in the bungalow to do a last washload, and I got picked up by the guy from Enterprise and went over to their base in Hazel Grove, where I signed the documentation for a Vauxhall Meriva. It seems an OK sort of car, a bit boxy, perhaps, but as Elanor has just pointed out to me, the current cars all have so much side impact protection that they do feel a bit bloated.
We've had a chance to chat to Peter off Maple, Braidbar 74, who's a blog reader (hi again) and to Jon and Sally, whose boat Gerbera is in build and the paint dock at the moment.
The Ocado order turned up 50 minutes early, and the guy made no trouble about trucking the crates to the boat, despite the mud and puddles on the towpath.
So now we are all set up; it's strange, a bit like going on a hire boat holiday again; getting enough clean clothes and food supplies together for a fortnight away, taking a strange boat that doesn't belong to you on a carefully planned trip and all that.
It should be fun. We're taking Sheila's MacBook, so I'll be able to keep up with the blog and email.
Tonight we're pubbing again, this time with Ian Stockton, then tomorrow it's Les's birthday, and they've kindly invited us to join them. In the pub, of course.
