Not a lot going on

After a good night's kip, we were all ready for today's planned activity, washing and polishing the front bulkhead and titivating the other bits around the well deck. This was on the basis that the forecast was for a sunny day, but it didn't really happen. We saw a bit of sun, but with a bitingly cold wind, not at all conducive to slopping water around.

So we walked into the village and got meat and stuff, then decided we needed to relight the squirrel. The coal supply is getting a bit low, so Sheila set to and sawed up one of the big bits of wood Elanor brought the other week. I gave  a hand steadying it, and we also cut up some more of the smaller pieces that work well as intermediate kindling.

This should let us keep warm for a few days, until we get to Fazeley Mill Marina, where we plan to pump out, and can buy some coal at the same time. On the way, we're going to share a meal with Des and Gill of Farne, Braidbar 82, at the newly refurbished and reopened Plough at Huddlesford Junction. We haven't had a chance to socialise with them since the autumn, so it will be good to catch up.

Elanor and Sally have now joined us for the night; I can't promise, but I'll see if Sal can be persuaded to blog tomorrow. Just now, she's getting in some beauty sleep; she had agility last night, and an extra session this lunchtime, and is a very tired dog.
