I was going to get Sally to do this post, but she's on strike, having had a worrying night and then a hard day today. She found it very odd to be left with us in the evening, as it's usually first thing in the morning when Elanor abandons her. No matter, she stayed very quiet on her bed until about five, after which we had bursts of whining until six, when I relented and let her through to join us.
After suitable amounts of snuggling and patting, she fell sound asleep again. We finally got going at around eight, and after breakfast I took her for a run in the fields whilst Sheila went into the village for a paper. Sally played the same trick me as she had on Elanor the other day, having a dump, then picking up her tyre and running off with it to drop it elsewhere.
I had a bit of a search about with the poo bag to find the heap, which meant that I lost my line for finding the tyre, and spent the next 20 minutes hunting for it whilst Sal charged about the place chortling.
This afternoon, we've been over to Alrewas for the Capable Canines Fun Dog Show, which was indeed good fun. Sal got a bronze for "Radiant Rescue" and reserve for "Catching the Dog Biscuit" (she usually wins that, but was up against a labrador this time, say no more), but missed out on her other classes.
Whilst over there, Sheila and I went across to the village and had a look at the river section, which is back in the amber. It's flowing very quickly, but we reckon that provided the burst of rain forecast for tomorrow doesn't bring it up too much, it should be reasonably OK to navigate on Tuesday.
So we're going to pull out and go to Branston tomorrow, then hopefully up to Alrewas on Tuesday. If not, we'll lurk at Barton Turn until the river comes back down.
