And a quiet Monday

After a bit of a broken night (note to self: Spam and Beetroot Branston sandwiches just before bed are a bad idea), we had another lazy start, though not quite as slow as yesterday. I'm pleased to note that my muscles aren't quite as stiff as I'd feared after all the pruning work, but it was still very good to get into a hot shower.

With no need to visit the village, just the shop for the paper, we had a brisk walk round the marina this afternoon in mixed weather, sometimes sunny and quite mild, sometimes clouded over and chilly, with the occasional spot of rain.

Sheila ran a couple of washloads and tumbled them, and I both booked my Ocado delivery slot for the week before Christmas and a delivery for Friday morning. We also realised that Sheila's MacBook hadn't been backed up for a while, so did that and were a bit shocked to find that it copied 1.3Gb. At present, she backs up onto the external drive that is normally connected to this Mac Mini, but clearly that's not good enough.

I've ordered a 1Tb (Terabyte) drive for this machine (I generate rather more content than Sheila does) and we'll connect the 500Gb drive we're presently sharing to hers. That means that she can leave the Time Machine utility running as I do; it auto backs up every hour, and then preserves the files on a reducing basis by the week and month.

The price of these drives keeps on coming down – I've just paid less for the Terabyte beast than I did for the 500Gb one two years ago.

Sally will be with us tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get some more photos of her to liven up her mutterings and growlings when she posts here.
