Gently recovering

Actually, yesterday was so laid back, I can't really claim to need a recovery day…

But I'm taking one anyway.

/wahaha

First off, of course, many thanks to all those who sent me their good wishes for my birthday; it's really nice to know that you care. We had an excellent meal at The Dragon last night; it's not cheap (that's called litotes*), but the quality is very good. I had a perfectly done rump steak, with just the right amount of chips, whilst Sheila enjoyed the Chicken Supreme with dauphinoise potatoes.

One thing – they were very busy. We got a table all right, but it was a good job we'd not gone any later. If that's what it's like on a Tuesday night in October, booking would be essential for any more popular time like a weekend.

We had a good lie-in today, then ambled down to the village for some more bread and to post the latest set of porthole doilies to a customer. I now get the paper delivered to the Still Waters shop at the marina, so we only need to walk into the village for other stuff.

On the way back, we were passed by an anonymous figure zooming along on a bicycle, who stopped, turned back and greeted us. It turned out to be Trevor, who with his wife Rachael is having a boat built by Aqua at the moment. Regular readers will recall that we had a couple of meetings with them earlier in the year.

We had a good old catch up, and look forward to seeing the boat when she's finished.

This afternoon, we had a ramble round the marina, and stopped to watch another lodge being craned into place. They are delivered in two halves, and the whole thing takes even longer than craning a shell in. The area for the lodges is gradually filling up; I suspect that they'll be quite closely packed in by the finish, though each one has a view in one direction or another.

Tomorrow, we'll join the Walking for Health group in the afternoon and catch up with all their doings since we last saw them.

Belated Birthday Greetings :)

I hope you had better service at the Dragon than we experienced on our last visit there! Talk about knowing how the invisible man feels... :(

Thanks Kevin.

The Dragon service was fine, though I find it's quicker if you go up to the bar to order rather than waiting for them to come to you.

All the best

Bruce

We did that last time, stood at the bar for ten minutes, all three of us, before the staff eventually acknowledged our existance!!
It must be me then...
