Last day in Alrewas (for now)

I had to pop in to the surgery again briefly this morning, and we took the opportunity to go into the dentist's as well, to sort out our check up appointments. These have slipped out of sync with the medical stuff, and now will happen in December. That in turn means that we needed them after twelve, as the stoppages will prevent us from bringing Sanity Again here at that time.

With all that sorted, we popped into the butcher's and stocked up on meat.

Sheila had her own appointment this afternoon, so we shall now be free to get away tomorrow. I need to be back here to see the nurse on the 24th; we'll see what the weather is like, whether we bring the boat or I make the trip by road.

One positive to report about the Canal and River Trust; we noticed at Bagnall Lock on Saturday that the latch on the offside bottom gate paddle was jammed solid. I sent off an email to Central Shires in Fazeley about it on Monday morning, and had an acknowledgement the next day, telling me that it had been referred to Customer Services.

This morning, I had a further email from the Customer Services supervisor, letting me know that it had been fixed yesterday; we had a look as we walked into the village, and it is indeed moving freely again. So, the moral of the story is, if you spot a problem with the waterway, it's worth letting C&RT know, it does result in action, at least some of the time.
