Duvet Sunday

You might not be surprised to learn that we weren't up very early this morning; it was a good party last night, and though we didn't stop up late, we managed to consume a(n im)moderate amount of food and booze. In addition, where last night's weather was dry but cold, today has been damp and very cold, no inducement to go out at all.

The fireworks were splendid, a quite stunning show again, and as soon as they were over, the moorers of Finch, Grebe and Heron pontoons got stuck in. There was a load of food of all kinds; I'm pleased to say our offerings of pizza and parkin went down well. We had a chance to get to know some more of our fellow boaters, as well as catching up with folk we'd already met.

Surprisingly, I only recall discussing toilets once, which must be a record.

We've barely stirred out of the boat today, just popping up to the Facilities Block and to the shop. I brought the Pub Guide up to date, Sheila made another crochet mat to go under a drip catcher (though she's still not satisfied with it) and I ordered an upgrade disk for Disk Warrior, the one I was bidding for on eBay having become too expensive – it's not an upgrade, so I wasn't surprised; the list price is over £100 and the upgrade is only costing me $60, including postage from the States.

After lunch, we invested some time in boat cleaning, sweeping through and dusting, and I swept out the well deck too; there's not much point cleaning the floor if there's a load of coal dust and stuff just waiting to track in from outside. The whole job took less than two hours, which is another reason for living in a boat rather than a house.

Hopefully, we'll both feel a bit brighter tomorrow, not that we have any very specific plans in mind.
