Thursday, Thursday...

This time last week we were stuck in the boat waiting for Keith who then came on Friday…

This week, much better use of the day. We had a lazy start, then did a lot of internet type stuff, mainly to do with Sheila's thing she's doing for a mag, and my maintenance of the Braidbar Owners' email group. We also turned out a cupboard, sorted a load of stuff, and identified a spare Bluetooth mouse that's surplus to requirements, which is now for sale on eBay.

One thing that's worth mentioning is yet another potential threat from the EU's obsession with standardisation, which could mean the destruction of the way we use the canals at the moment. (Compulsory driving licences for boats, anyone?) There's a useful explication of the problem and what you can do to help in the latest IWA web bulletin.

If you're reading this in the EU, please do get in touch with your MEP.

This afternoon, we joined the Walking for Health group as planned, and had a good ramble along the towpath followed up by tea and soft drinks in The Dragon. Just before we set out, Scooby and Rita from Festina Lente came by, so we had yet another quick natter with them. They can't hang about here, sadly, as they want to be above next week's stoppages at Fradley by the weekend.

Dolce Far Niente has arrived in the marina; we haven't met up with Stephen and Jayne yet, but have a date to do so in the Willow Tree on Saturday morning – we can't do it tomorrow, we've got an Ocado order coming in, and of course if we tried to settle down for coffee and chocolate, the thing would be bound to arrive early.
