Pottering Monday

Elanor stayed for dinner last night which was really good, though Sally didn't appreciate the fact that she had to wait until they went home to have hers…

Between five and seven in the evening, we were plagued by the ELCB* on the power post popping out about five times. In the end, one of the other boats which shares the post with us identified what was probably the problem, and we could relax again without the inverter charger messing about.

This morning, we both felt a bit blurry eyed, mainly as a result of the aftermath of the colds, I think , but we managed to stagger up before the end of the Today programme and get going. The calendars and cards were written and addressed, and later in the morning we walked down to the village to post them and get some stuff from the Co-op.

This mostly consisted of a loaf of bread, a cauliflower to make cauliflower cheese for our meat-free Monday meal and some nutty nibbles in case we have anyone in for drinks over Christmas. (Well, you never know.)

Back at the boat for lunch, all was still well with the power supply, so it does look as if the problem's been isolated. I had  a chat with Peter Mason at Braidbar in the afternoon; he and Susan are hopefully coming down to see us sometime in the New Year. The yard is very busy at the moment, which is pleasing given the continuing recession.

Having said that, there might be an empty build slot next summer following a cancellation, so if anyone out there fancies ordering a new boat, you know what to do.

Tomorrow, Lloyd is giving us a lift into Alrewas for our dental check ups. Helen, the woman who has the unenviable task of keeping him under some sort of control, is coming too so that we can have lunch together in the Crown afterwards.

I'm still planning to blog tomorrow, but don't be surprised if it's a bit, erm, brief.

You're going to the dentist and then to the ' Crown'? There's got to be a joke in there somewhere!

All the best,
